The Academy is excited to partner with Vector Space, a local makerspace that works to promote a love of learning. Its main focus is to bring science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics to the Lynchburg community. Elise Spontarelli, the Executive Director of Vector Space, is thrilled with the opportunity for collaboration. “The Academy is a long-standing educational center in our community, and we are so gracious to be working with them to provide new and innovative classes. Combining traditional STEM fields with the arts leads to exciting new ideas and possibilities.” The three classes that are part of the Vector Space and Academy collaboration combine art with STEM learning. The screen printing workshop allows participants to learn the process and use that knowledge to print an original t-shirt. The 3D printing workshop will introduce the variables that concern 3D prints, including software that makes 3D printing possible. The bookbinding workshop is great for avid readers, writers, and crafters. Participants will learn how to assemble a custom journal that they can take home.
