Call for Entries! The Academy Center of the Arts 2018 National Juried Art Exhibition applications are now available!
Open to U.S. residents, 18 years or older, working in the following disciplines; painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, fiber, glass, ceramics, wood, metal and mixed media. No photography accepted. All work submitted must be original (no reproductions), not done under supervision, not made from kits or patterns. All work must be suitably prepared for installation. The curator reserves the right to deny entry if any work is deemed not suitable for display or too difficult to install. Entries must have been completed after January 1, 2012, and not previously exhibited in a Lynchburg juried art show.

2018 JUROR – LAURA MCMANUS
Laura McManus is passionate about making art accessible to diverse audiences. She currently serves as Curator of Education at the Maier Museum of Art at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia, where she facilitates use of the collection and special exhibitions by Randolph College faculty and students, develops interpretive materials, trains docents and interns, and manages education programs for the community. McManus also teaches courses in the Museum and Heritage Studies major at Randolph College. Prior to joining the Maier in April 2016, McManus was the Coordinator of Youth and Family Programs at the North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA) in Raleigh, NC, where she managed and developed curricula for eight educational programs, developed large-scale family and community days, supervised interns and fellows, and trained docents. For six years, she was the Curator of Education at the Museum of Biblical Art (MOBIA) in New York City where she spearheaded the educational strategy for the young institution. She oversaw the college internship program and initiated innovative interpretive programs including audio tours, a concert and lecture series, and youth workshops connecting art and literacy.
