2022 JUROR – Karen Cohen
Karen Cohen is an award winning photographer with over 50 years of experience in the photographic world. She attended Germain School of Photography in NYC after high school and completed the Professional Photographer two year certification course. With years of both black and white and color processing and printing from negatives, she also freelanced as a rock and roll photographer for various trade music magazines such as Rock Scene and Trouser Press, both based in NYC. In 2021, the Aquarian weekly magazine was inducted into the library archives of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and these included Cohen’s photo journals and cover photographs. Cohen transitioned to digital photography and uses Adobe Photoshop to create surreal images for exhibit. Her work is collected in private homes and in some organizations in Washington, DC.
Having been a member of art leagues in Charlotte and Washington DC, Cohen has had numerous solo shows and has won various awards. She is a member of Women’s Caucus for Arts, Capitol Hill Art League, and was chairperson and juror for Capitol Hill Art League for many years. She managed The Corner Store Gallery in DC where she orchestrated six all female artists exhibits.Her work has been featured in Charlotte Taste Magazine and is featured in gallery exhibits at Tamarack Best of West Virginia where she also serves as a juror for new artists, as well as The Beckley Art Center, WV and Capitol Hill Arts Workshop in DC.
