The ACOA Network
The ACOA Network is a series of digital programs that educate, question, and further the connection between art and community in Lynchburg, Virginia. With a diverse group of hosts from the Academy Center of the Arts staff, each show uniquely engages with viewers with content that interests them.
Season One of The ACOA Network aired for five weeks, starting October 26, 2020, with Art Talks with Ted, Plates and Paints, When Art Meets Activism, and Behind the Bar.
Season Two of The ACOA Network will air monthly, starting January 25, 2021, with a continuation of Behind the Bar, as well as a special ‘Love at the Academy’ Segment in February and Art Talks with Ted in March featuring young artists from Lynchburg City Schools.

Behind the Bar

Tabitha Abbott, Director of Operations, and Fred Scheib, Facilities Manager and Beer tasting aficionado, take you Behind the Bar with Blue Ridge Beverage and our Academy Resident Companies to talk upcoming news, exciting information about their organizations, and reviews on highlighted adult beverages you NEED to try.
Love at the Academy
February 8 – 12, 2021
Join our staff as we take you on a journey through finding and celebrating all things love at the Academy Center of the Arts. Learn about ways you can propose to your loved ones, hear stories of theatre lovers turned fiances, go on a blind date with art from our galleries, or take a behind the scenes tour of our newest rental offering, dinner on the Historic Theatre stage, during this segment.
Art Talks with Ted
March 1 – 5, 2021
Join Ted Batt, Director of Visual Arts and Gallery expert, as he interviews local students from the Lynchburg City Schools system as they feature their work creating during quarantine.

Join Ted Batt, Director of Visual Arts and Gallery expert, as he interviews local exhibiting and emerging artists in his weekly show, Art Talks with Ted. Learn more about art displayed in our on-site and off-site gallery spaces and the artists from your community.
Plates and Paints
Tuesdays at 12PM
Adara Wright, Coordinator of Curriculum at the Academy Center of the Arts, and Jeanell Smith, Senior Family Nutrition Program Assistant at the Virginia Cooperative Extension, team up to teach families about the intersection of nutrition and color theory through cooking and art. In this show, families will paint, learn, and cook while discovering how color and food go together.
When Art Meets Activism
Wednesdays at 12PM
Join Tremayne Edwards, Director of Community Engagement, Nakesha Moore, Officer of Equity, and Nick George of The Listening, Inc., as they deep dive into the connective tissue between the arts and activism.
Behind the Bar
Thursdays at 12PM
Tabitha Abbott, Director of Operations, and Fred Scheib, Facilities Manager and Beer tasting aficionado, take you Behind the Bar with Blue Ridge Beverage with special guests to retell unique stories on the history of the Academy Center of the Arts while reviewing a new beer highlighted by our Sponsor each week.
