Join Artist Robin Wellner from North Carolina for a unique opportunity to learn in her advanced Alla Prima painting workshop!

Painting portraits is challenging — but incredibly rewarding! Simplifying your palette to something you know works will give you freedom to concentrate on other aspects of the portrait. Anders Zorn’s limited palette of white, black, yellow ochre and cadmium red will give you a beautiful range of skin tones and virtually guarantee color harmony.

Each morning of this three day workshop begins with instruction and a demo painted from a live model. After lunch, everyone will have the opportunity to paint the model with lots of one-on-one instruction. We will focus on color, values, facial features and how to measure to achieve a likeness; as well, as learning to paint shapes rather than lines.

**Oil painting experience required.

“This is a challenging class. Robin made it a great class with her demos, clarity of teaching, books, handouts and her own paintings for inspiration. She gives equal care to each class member, as well as her positive spirit and good nature. Her laughter is good medicine and helped us through the pain of learning, trying and doing. Maybe the best workshop I’ve taken!” – Susan Van Wyk

“You run your class efficiently and warmly. I’m sure every participant felt encouraged. Loved all your handouts. I will certainly recommend this workshop to other artists.” – Karen Crenshaw

Robin Wellner is an avid painter of people as well as landscapes and Plein air. Her fascination with painting faces has lead her to numerous national awards and inclusion in national shows with the American Women Artists, Oil Painters of America and Richeson 75 Figure and Portrait International Show.
