Art Talks is an opportunity for the community to hear from the artists who are a part of the Academy’s network of artists. Each art talk will feature a different artist or artists who are either being showcased in the Academy’s galleries, on our stage, or are doing interesting work in our community. The artist/s will share their process, perspective and story.

Although typically Art Talks is held on the 2nd Thursday, this month will be on Friday, February 10 from 5:30-6:30pm.

We are honored to celebrate Black History Month and the successful artistic vision of the Astronaut and former NFL player, Leland Melvin.  Leland, graduate of Heritage High School in Lynchburg, Virginia, has overcome many potentially career ending challenges to get where he is today. Regardless of obstacles Leland faced, he now sets an example of perseverance and innovation. His exhibition will include riveting photographs taken both on and off the planet.
