Sail the high seas with our pirate themed art camp for 5-7 year olds! Learn basic drawing techniques with map illustration and watercolor techniques to create your own gem and treasure paintings. Create recycled and found art sculpture projects for treasure chests, gold coins, and maybe even some pirate pets! Young artists will also create the following pirate-themed projects in the pottery studio: Treasure Chest Box, Skull Bowls, Parrot Rattles and Treasure Map Plate.

We ARrrrrre sure to have a great time creating and learning!

Instructor: Rebekah Hower

I grew up in New Jersey and moved to Lynchburg in 2014 and have been teaching art for over 6 years locally.

I have a bachelors of Science in Art Education, a concentration in ceramics, and just received a Masters degree in Art Education this spring of 2021. I was also able to study art abroad in Florence, Italy while in taking classes in college and would love to go back!

I have been doing art since I was young entering local fairs and spending most of my summers with a paint brush in hand!

I have taught at the Academy both in the pottery and art studios! I even had a gallery show at the academy in 2017! It’s one of my favorite places in Lynchburg!
