Lynchburg-based Bigfoot County marks its 15th year as a band with a return performance at the prestigious Lynchburg Academy’s Warehouse Theater.

From its inception in 2010, Bigfoot County has declared the band’s mission a personal tribute to the music of the Grateful Dead. Not just another cover band, their performances are dedicated creations of the moment, respectful of tradition, but always reaching for discovery within the spirit of the music itself.

Over the years, Bigfoot has played theaters, clubs, festivals, numerous benefits, small and large venues.  They have shared the bill with a number of bands and artists, to include performing a set with David Gans.

Although the configuration of the band has evolved over the past 15 years, Bigfoot County has remained remarkably consistent in its philosophy and music. Each of the five current members are talented musicians, with diverse styles and influence; like the Dead, theirs is a dialogue, each voice heard as integral to the whole.

Pulling from a catalog of more than 150 songs by the Dead and Jerry Garcia, no two Bigfoot shows are alike. And from the start, the gathering of like souls who have gradually taken on the moniker of Biggies, have been on hand as a vital part of the Bigfoot scene.

A Bigfoot County show is a colorful blend of musical exploration and community. As familiar phrases of psychedelia blend seamlessly in and out of R&B, rock, reggae and jazz textures, Bigfoot’s soaring forays are reflected in the smiling Biggie dancers, ultimately culminating in a shared experience, a joyful discovery. For a time, the music is playing the band.
