Black Panther Screening: Return to Wakanda

Black Panther Screening in the Historic Academy of Music Theatre

Join the Academy Center of the Arts, Blackwater Branding, and Central Virginia Fashion Week as we screen the 2018 Blockbuster Black Panther in the Historic Academy Theatre and celebrate the fusion of African-inspired fashion, culture, and the arts.

Lobby doors open at 6:30pm with a warm welcome to Wakanda! Our house DJ, music by Phinestro, will kick off the night spinning Wakanda-inspired tracks in the lobby where themed activities, photo opportunities, and African-inspired fashion, created by local designers from Central Virginia Fashion Week, will be modeled.

Participating designers include Ebony Giles of Elegant & Royal Collections, Kim Wilson of Glitz & Glamour Boutique Lynchburg, and House of Laposh. Ebony will feature looks inspired by African fashion, designed and handmade for men and women. Kim will feature traditional African inspired attire for women. House of Laposh will feature a luxury line of custom garments that feature looks inspired by African fashion, designed and handmade for women.

Drop by for a specialty-drink, chat with local fashion designers, or make your own kimoyo bead bracelet before the film!  Black Panther-inspired face painting by artist Christina Davis will also be available.  Costumes are encouraged for this all ages event.

Black Panther will begin at 7:30pm. General admission seating is available. Limited tickets will be sold in advance and at the door.
