8-Week Block Printing Series for Beginners
This 8-week course is designed for complete beginners or those returning to printmaking. Using rubber blocks, you will learn how to create professional-quality black-and-white prints through a step-by-step process.
You will be introduced to the tools and materials needed, learn techniques for carving your block, and the process of inking and printing. Throughout the course, you’ll create at least three prints from your block and learn how to document and organize a print edition.
Rubber block printing offers endless possibilities for creating patterns, artwork, or unique gifts. This technique is perfect for printing on paper, and the blocks can be used repeatedly to produce multiple pieces.

Instructor : Toby Penney
Instructor Bio :
Toby Penney is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in painting and printmaking. With a B.F.A. in Sculpture from Middle Tennessee State University and training at Internationally respected Harvey K. Littleton Studios, she brings a wealth of technical skill and creative insight to her work. Penney has exhibited internationally in locations like France, England, Australia, and the U.S., and has been featured on the covers of Professional Artist Magazine and Hellbent Magazine. She also serves as an art instructor and mentor, fostering creativity in her community and beyond through her Roaming Studio program.
