New York’s King and Queen of Comedy, Bridget Everett and Murray Hill, visit Lynchburg, VA on Saturday, September 15, 2018, for a special performance at the Academy Center of the Arts following our 2018 Gala.*

“Multiply the mouthy, flesh-jiggling early Bette Midler by one hundred, give her the super-plus-size figure and fashion sense of Divine, the John Waters diva, and the manners of a Flintstone, and you’ve got a rough approximation of Bridget Everett…” – NY Times

“Everett is known for her raucous, wine-soaked live acts, where audience participation means accepting the possibility of Everett’s boobs enveloping your face.” -Vanity Fair

“the bighearted, foulmouthed, Chardonnay-swilling persona” – Vulture

“where she holds audiences hostage — lovingly, mind you — with her raunchy but heartrending theatrics.” – LA Times

“Envelope-pushing, larger-than-life cabaret performances have made her a New York icon” – Huffington Post

*This performance will contain adult language and content.

Doors open at 9:30pm with a cash bar. The show begins at 10:30pm.

About Bridget Everett:

Every month Bridget Everett & The Tender Moments bring their funny yet gut-wrenching and outrageous performance to Joe’s Pub at The Public. Led by the singing tour de force Bridget Everett, “a mouthy, flesh-jiggling early Bette Midler” (New York Times), the band has sold-out venues nationally and instantly developed a cult-like following with their edgy, sexed-up, punk rock cabaret. Each performance is as explosive as it is unpredictable, welcoming special guests as varied as Fred Armisen, Patti LuPone, Flea, Dan Finnerty (The Dan Band), Tonya Pinkins, Marc Shaiman, Erin Markey, Peaches, Neal Medlyn and Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters) while fans such as Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill, Andy Cohen and Lily Taylor can be seen laughing hysterically in the audience. Imagine Freddie Mercury, Richard Pryor and Sophie Tucker had a baby, and then you might be getting close…maybe. Bridget Everett & The Tender Moments released their debut album of original music in October 2013 featuring the singles Titties, and What I Gotta Do.

Bridget Everett has been called one of the Funniest People in New York by Time Out. Her film, theater and television credits include Inside Amy Schumer, At Least It’s Pink, Two Broke Girls, Jeffrey Cole Casserole, The Bleep Show w/ Whitney Cummings, Jukebox Jackie and Our Hit Parade. Bridget has appeared at Montreal and Chicago’s Just For Laughs Festival, HBO’s Aspen United States Comedy Arts Festival, The Adelaide International Cabaret Festival, The San Francisco Sketchfest, and The New York Comedy Festival.  Bridget was awarded a grant from Joe’s Pub in 2013 as part of their New York Voices series.  Rock Bottom was directed by Scott Wittman and written by Everett, along with Marc Shaiman, Wittman, Adrock of the Beastie Boys and Matt Ray.  Everett has toured nationally with Amy Schumer.

About Murray Hill:

Murray Hill is a NYC legend, comedian, host, international entertainer, and larger-than-life personality. Mr. Showbiz is renowned for his improv, quick wit, and sparkly (but too tight) tuxedos. He’s been flexing his comedy chops touring with comedian/singer BRIDGET EVERETT and was just awarded The New York Voices commission from Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater.  He has toured the U.S. several times over with burlesque superstar DITA VON TEESE and hosted her historic debut sold-out Australian tour. He’s performed two seasons at The Sydney Opera House starring in CLUB SWIZZLE which went on to tour major festivals.

The New York Times anointed Murray “Downtown’s New ‘It’ Boy.” He’s been included in “Best of New York” lists in the Village VoiceTime OutPAPERNew York Magazine; inducted into PAPER’s Nightlife Hall of Fame; selected as OUT magazine’s Top 100 influential performers twice; included in New York Magazine’s “Fifty Most Iconic Gender Benders of All Time,” PAPER’s“Top Ten ‘It’ Boys in NYC Nightlife History,” and named one of the Top 12 gender-bending performers in NYC by Time Out. The City of New York awarded Murray a Citation for his positive impact on the LGBT community in Brooklyn.
