In this course students will learn techniques of both hand-built and thrown functional pottery. The classes will focus on introducing new students to the properties of clay, both in hand building and wheel throwing. Demonstrations will cover beginning pottery techniques as well as techniques for intermediate students. All skill levels welcome!

 


 

Tuition includes a 25 lb. bag of clay and glaze and firing costs.

Instructor: Kenny Tinklenberg

Kenneth Tinklenberg earned his BFA in Ceramics from Northern Arizona University, a well-renowned program for its many wood kilns and other atmospheric firing processes. He has since attended many ceramic residencies including Starworks in Seagrove North Carolina, considered by many to be “the handmade pottery capital of the United States”. He maintains a business selling functional ceramic wares in Lynchburg Virginia where he lives with his wife and new baby!
