Dinner and a Movie, Academy Center of the Arts

“Welcome to the party pal!”

On December 8th, the Academy Center of the Arts, Scott Cardwell, and the fabulous compatriots from Bull Branch are throwing an action-adventure, food, booze, and dance party while screening the greatest holiday 80s classic film, Die Hard.

It’s going to be full-on…with a vengeance.

Besides airing the fabulous film of explosions and redemption on the big screen, we’ll also turn the Warehouse Theater into a sexy, 1988 chrome and gold Christmas party a la Nakatomi Plaza. Scott will be playing 80s dance and Christmas songs before and after (there will be dancing) and putting together a carefully crafted cocktail list and heavy hors-d’oeuvres menu to blow the roof off.

We’ll be shaking up (aka drinking) a Hans Gruber, an Argyle, and a Yippee Ki Yay Motherf***er, OF COURSE. Loads of local beers and wines will be available as well.

The menu will include: Detonator Meatballs, LA Tacos, and a giant Strawberry Twinkie Trifle… just to name a few.

Guests may come as they are, but there will totally be a costume contest for those so inspired…wife beaters and bare feet, big hair and shoulder pads, or your best Sgt. Powell uniform will do.

The doors open at 7:00pm for cocktails and food, and the movie begins at 8:00pm. We will be dancing and drinking like it’s 1988 afterward, too.

BRING IT.

Tickets to the event are $35.00 and include the film, food, and dancing. A car bar will be available.

This will be a perfect event for a Friendsmas, Chickmas, office party, or just a kick *** Friday night in downtown Lynchburg.

“Come out to the Coast, we’ll get together and have a few laughs!”

Die Hard Plot:

NYPD cop John McClane goes on a Christmas vacation to visit his wife Holly in Los Angeles where she works for the Nakatomi Corporation. While they are at the Nakatomi headquarters for a Christmas party, a group of bank robbers led by Hans Gruber take control of the building and hold everyone hostage, with the exception of John, while they plan to perform a lucrative heist. Unable to escape and with no immediate police response, John is forced to take matters into his own hands
