The Blue Ridge Plein Air Painters
On Finding Beauty

Blue Ridge Plein Air Painters Founding Members:
David Heath, Kathy Seek, Rodney Laughon, Lois Virginia Babb, and Charley Turner.

Five Oil Painters who share the love of painting from life, the love of Virginia’s beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, and the joy of capturing that beauty on canvas. These professional artists often travel independently and enjoy painting a variety of subjects from their travels. However, when they’re in town, they paint together regularly learning from each other’s unique perspective of the landscape.

Since forming their group in 2008, the Blue Ridge Plein Air Painters have joined together to promote and share their knowledge of Classical painting with each other, fellow artists, students, and reaching the public through several regional exhibitions. In 2010, Liberty University began acquiring a permanent art collection for the University. The Blue Ridge Plein Air Painters are honored to be among the first founding artists chosen by Liberty  to establish this collection.

In order to maintain a minimal environments impact on the land, they remain a small group and are very grateful to the many landowners who graciously allow access to their private properties.
