Do you want to try out a new technique? Experience a new way of looking at theatre?
How does theater stay relevant in a constantly shifting culture? Augusto Boal, Brazilian theater practitioner, sought ways to use theater as a voice for those who otherwise would have no voice. This groundbreaking technique, known as Forum Theater, uses the problems that a community is dealing with as a launching pad for greater dialogue. Through a series of games and activities, actors are trained to work with the audience, exploring solutions in a collaborative way. Our class will experience these techniques then use them with an audience. The actor will gain a greater understanding of ensemble and group playmaking while solving real world problems.
