Instructor: Joanna McGlothlin
A modern take on an ancient process, gelli plate printing utilizes a reusable gelatin style printing plate to make single prints using acrylic paint. A variety of tools will be utilized to create textures and patterns. We will create a multi layer print together and then be set free to play and experiment on our own. The resulting prints can be used for collage projects, such as art journals or card making or simply framed and used as art itself.
Joanna McGlothlin is a mixed media artist working in acrylic and collage with found objects. She creates abstractions with the goal of evoking a feeling in the viewer. She discovered her love of all things creative at an early age. Whether it was hand-sewing clothing for her stuffed animals, constructing paper creations with glue and scissors or simply eating the occasional crayon she was always up to something. Joanna strives to keep that child-like sense of play alive in her creative practice today. She believes anyone can tap into their own creativity with play and practice. Joanna works to create an environment in the classroom that fosters experimentation and explorations where ideas can be cultivated. Daughter of a life long collector of many things, she can often be found with her head down scanning the ground for bits and bobs that may work their way into her next piece. She apologizes in advance for bumping into you.
