Intermediate Acrylic Landscape Painting
Intermediate Acrylic Landscape Painting: Developing Your Style (Spring Session)
This six-week series is designed for adult artists with prior landscape painting experience who are ready to deepen their skills and pursue unique artistic voice. Led by artist and mentor Toby Penney, this project-based class meets weekly for 1.5 hours in a supportive, creative environment that encourages exploration and growth.
This class is ideal for students who have completed Beginning Acrylic Landscape Painting or who already have a solid foundation with acrylics. Each participant will choose their own landscape subjects and set personalized goals—whether it’s mastering color harmony, refining brushwork, capturing light and atmosphere, or strengthening composition. Toby provides individualized guidance throughout, helping each artist expand their creative range and confidence.
What you’ll learn:
• How to develop a cohesive painting project from concept to completion
• Advanced techniques for color harmony, layering, and texture
• Strategies for capturing light, depth, and mood in landscape painting
• Composition refinement and design principles for strong visual impact
• How to analyze your own work through critique and self-reflection
By the end of this series, you’ll have created a personal collection of landscape paintings that reflect your developing style and technical progress.
We’ll provide all the materials you need, but feel free to bring along:
• Your favorite acrylic paints, brushes, or canvases
• Sketches or photos of landscapes that inspire you
• A sketchbook or journal for notes and reflection
