Instructor: Joshua Carter
Joshua Carter is native to the blue hills of Virginia. He was raised just 30 minutes southeast of Charlottesville in a small town called Palmyra Virginia. As a child, Joshua busied himself with filling hundreds of sheets of old computer paper with all sorts of sketches and drawings. As he grew older he found a love for painting landscapes and abstractions.
In recent years Joshua has presented several exhibits in Lynchburg, Virginia: Metamorphosis: A Palpable Abstraction 2019 (Riverviews Art Space). Black Art Matters (Academy Center of the Arts), and The Color of Life: a Family Tree (Academy Center of the Arts).
Joshua believes that art is a means of self discovery, exploration of the outside world, and global communication. His style is often experimental and spiritual, using themes and symbols to connect to his innermost thoughts.
