“These are the youths that thunder at a playhouse.” Henry VIII

 Students will explore Shakespeare’s plays using the methods and staging conditions of his time.  We will discover clues in the language (NOT HARD!), uncover stage directions (ACTING HINTS!), and find out why he involved the audience (PARTICIPATION!), leading up to a performance of scenes from Shakespeare’s plays on March 14.

Instructor: Stephanie Howieson

Stephanie Howieson has an MFA in Shakespeare in Performance from Mary Baldwin College (now University) in association with the American Shakespeare Center. She taught at Longwood University for seven years and worked in theatres in Ohio, California, North Carolina, Florida, and now, Virginia.
