Academy Mask Policy – 2022
The Academy Center of the Arts strongly recommends wearing a mask for all participants.
Mommy and Me: paint in tandem. This will be a great opportunity to bond with your little one and take home something to remember the experience! Your instructor will offer step-by-step instructions, but there will be plenty of room (and welcome) for your own improvisations. The class fee includes supplies for 1 child and 1 parent.
Instructor : Ashley Karnes
Ms. Ashley Karnes is a Bedford native who teaches Visual Arts at Liberty Middle School in Bedford County. Her affinity for art began in early childhood. She actively participated in art shows and exhibitions in the community throughout her high school years. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2015. Ashley moved from Richmond back home to the blue hills of Bedford in 2018 to be closer to family. Having dreamed of being a teacher since she could remember, she went back to school and obtained a Master of Arts in Teaching from Hollins University in May of 2021. She currently lives in Goodview with her fiance, two children, and two pets.
