Play is FUNdamental! Enjoy some at home activities with your child that will keep them moving and creating! Join us for “Mr. T’s Tots” time each Thursday in May where we will use ordinary household items and turn them into extraordinary ideas, fostering a love for creativity through interactive activities. 

After signing up, students will receive a Zoom link to participate in the live class.

We’ll be making the following (supplies needed are below):

Week 1: Homemade Playdough 

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup salt
  • 4 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 2 cups lukewarm water
  • 2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil (coconut oil works too)
  • Food coloring, optional
  • Quart sized bags

Week 2: Paper Bag Puppets

  • Paper bag
  • Glue or tape
  • Scissors
  • Paint or construction paper of any color
  • *Any other fun items at home you may want to add

Week 3: Slime 

  • 12 oz of Elmer’s white glue
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Baking Soda
  • 2 tablespoons of contact lens saline solution (or more, add as needed)

Optional for slime:

  • Washable Paint
  • Glitter
  • Beads
  • Gemstones (nonadhesive)
  • Food Coloring

Week 4: DIY Sidewalk puffy paint

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup shaving cream
  • food coloring
  • gallon freezer bags
  • plastic squirt bottles (or gallon-sized Ziploc bags)

 

Instructor: Tremayne Edwards

Tremayne is a member of the Youth Services Board. He is a graduate of Liberty University, where he studied English Literature and Fine Arts. Upon his graduation, Tremayne gained employment with the City of Lynchburg’s Parks and Recreation Department. In this role, he worked with individuals of all ages and backgrounds within the Lynchburg Community. While employed with Parks and Recreation, his work involved helping to educate citizens through programs promoting social equity, health, and wellness. Tremayne is currently employed as Director of Community Engagement with the Academy Center of the Arts. In his current role, he is helping to make arts and culture accessible to all. Outside of his professional career, Tremayne serves on the Board of Directors for Camp Kum Ba Yah, is a community volunteer to various causes, a theatre and trail lover and a nanny to all.
