Founded by violist and Lynchburg native Dudley Raine IV, the Seven Hills Chamber Music Festival brings together local musical talent with musicians from New York, North Carolina, Europe, and beyond, to deliver an exciting line-up of world-class chamber music to Lynchburg.
Our core musical group began as a piano quartet founded by four friends in New York City, and the Seven Hills Festival grew out of our yearly summer performance in Lynchburg, which has expanded into a full week-long festival, with in-school presentations, masterclasses for budding musicians, and three full concerts of chamber music featuring festival faculty.
Come join the musicians of the Seven Hills Chamber Music Festival for the final concert of our first season. The repertoire performed will include works by Mozart, Debussy, Rachmaninoff, and more! This concert was made possible by the generosity of the Greater Lynchburg Community
About Opus87:
Opus87 is a New York-based ensemble specializing in classical and contemporary chamber music. First formed as a piano quartet by friends at the Manhattan School of Music in 2016, opus87 played our first show together in Lynchburg, VA, and decided to continue exploring the chamber repertoire together.
The members of opus87 hail from across the country, and have made it a core part of our mission to bring high-quality chamber music to our member’s hometowns and communities. We aspire to bring fresh and exciting music to new audiences, so while our programming centers around the classics of the chamber repertory, we reserve a special place for new and neglected music.
Through collaborations with living composers, we seek to expand the body of works for our instrumentation. In addition to contemporary music, we seek to find and share lesser-known gems of the repertoire, with a special emphasis on thoughtful programming that highlights resonances between disparate musical styles and eras.
