Up Front Gallery – Monica Parson “VISION”
Artist Statement
“As an artist, I am drawn to the beauty and complexity of portraiture and sculpting. These media allow me to capture not only the physical likeness of my subjects, but also their essence and their heart. There is something profoundly moving in the act of creating a two- or three-dimensional representation of a person or a beautiful scene.
I see each piece I create as a reflection of God’s beauty and love, an attempt to capture or imitate a small part of His creativity. Through my work, I hope to inspire others to see the world as I do, to recognize God’s beauty.
I believe my love of portraiture and sculpture is a manifestation of my faith in Jesus and my desire to bring Him glory and honor. Whether I am creating a clay bust, a vase, a figure, or an oil portrait, I am aware that my work reflects God’s creativity. When I paint, throw, or sculpt, I feel His pleasure. I hope that it brings joy and inspiration to others as well.
Ultimately, my art is an expression of my gratitude to God for the gift of life and the beauty of creation. I am convinced that by imitating God in my own creativity, I am fulfilling part of God’s purpose in my life.
Soli Deo Gloria
(Latin for Glory to God alone)”
