Amherst Habitat for Humanity Presents:

Working on a Building 2019

Due to impending weather, Amherst County Habitat for Humanity has rescheduled their Working on a Building 2019 event from Sunday, January 13, 2019, to Saturday, March 9, 2019. Ticket purchasers will be contacted shortly. For more information, call (434) 846-8499.

Amherst County Habitat for Humanity is proud to present its’ annual Working on a Building Bluegrass Festival in the Academy of Music Historic Theatre.

This is our 16th annual festival and it remains to be our largest fundraiser of the year!

This year’s festival will feature Deep Blue Express, Little Mountain Boys, James River Cutups, New Standard, and Deer Creek Boys. Pick-A-Prize Raffle tickets with a minimum of 12 prize packages, will be sold prior to and at the Bluegrass event. The drawings will be at the event but you don’t have to be present to win.

Amherst County Habitat for Humanity is an independent affiliate through Habitat International. We build homes for those in the 30% to 60% of median income for Amherst County, with a minimum credit score of 600, and the ability to repay the mortgage.  With homes being built with volunteer labor and our 0% mortgage, we are producing affordable housing, generally those who fall in the gap of not qualifying for government subsidies yet unable to obtain a conventional mortgage.

Habitat is a process… not simply the point where keys & deed are passed to a new owner…it’s a timeline…from donors & fundraisers…to volunteers and families who work together for months, discovering, learning and becoming true friends…it’s turning a project into a house and then turning that house into a home…peace, security, stability… home…the kind of thing that changes lives for generations to come.

Doors open at 3:30pm with music beginning at 4:00pm.

Please note: This performance is not an Academy Center of the Arts production.
