Your instructor will take you step by step on an easy-to-learn painting experience! Learn how to paint a horse. Supplies will be provided.

Suitable for beginner and advanced young painters alike! No painting experience required.

After signing up, students will receive a Zoom link to participate in the live class.

 

Gather the following materials at home:

– Bowl of water

– Paper towels

– Painting shirt/apron

– Paper plate/palette paper for mixing paints

– Pencil

– Tape

– Flat surface to paint on

 

Each provided art supply bag will have the following:

– White paint

– Yellow paint

– Blue paint

– Red paint

– Green paint

– Canvas

– Brush set

– Printed copy of example painting

– Traceable image of horse

– Graphite paper

 

SUPPLY PICK UP INFO:

Curbside pick up for your art supply bag will be at the Academy Warehouse Theatre entrance, 519 Commerce St., Lynchburg, VA. See here for directions.

  • Pick up time is Monday, May 25, 4:30 – 6:00pm.
  • Please pull up to the Warehouse Entrance – stay in your car – and an Academy staff member will bring your bag out to you. 
  • After registering for the class, a phone number will be provided for patrons to call during pick up to notify Academy staff of your arrival.

Instructor: Sarah Proctor

Sarah Proctor is the Special Events and Corporate Rentals Manager with the Academy. Prior to joining the team at the Academy, Sarah worked in various roles at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, VA. In between her work for the VMFA and the Academy Center of the Arts, she has enjoyed time at home raising her two daughters.  

In 2004, Sarah graduated from Florida State University with a BS in Interior Design. In 2011, Sarah earned her MA in Art/Architectural History from Virginia Commonwealth University. The arts have remained an important part of her personal and professional life. She enjoys the opportunity to show her children how art can bring such joy and creativity to every moment!

ACADEMY ANNOUNCES VENUE REOPENING GUIDELINES

The Academy Center of the Arts has always put our patrons, our supporters, and our community members first. That’s why, when COVID-19 began to spread throughout the region, we closed our doors ahead of official governing regulations, and why we continue to put tremendous thought into when and how we will reopen those doors to the public in the future.

 

Following Governor Northam’s Executive Order No. 65, we are officially releasing our plans to reopen our educational and gallery venues, as well as our guidelines for reopening our performance venues in the future.
