This class offers 12 hours of intensive study over 3 consecutive days. The Zorn palette is a very limited palette of 2 colors plus white and black which simplifies the portrait process while creating unity through economy. Each day we will work with a live model. All of this makes for the best possible portrait painting experience.
Class Meets :
Thursday/Friday: 5:30-8:30pm
Saturday : 9:00am – 4:00pm
We will study:
capturing a likeness & expression, proportions & perspective, edges, drybrush techniques, zones of color, and a systematic approach that promises greater success.
Artists will want to download and print a value scale and complete a simple color chart that will familiarize the painter with the Zorn palette. This can be found in the
Supply List.

Instructor : Kenny Weinfurtner
Kenneth Weinfurtner holds a BFA in Studio Art and a BA in Art History from the University of Kentucky. He earned an MFA in Studio Art from Radford University. Mr. Weinfurtner currently teaches art at the Lynchburg Academy Center of the Arts. His art studio, PennyStone Studio, is located at his home in Madison Heights, VA.
