Historic Theatre Happy Hour Tour

Spend an evening at the beautifully restored Historic Academy Theatre for a behind the scenes tour of the historic venue, paired with happy hour drink specials and live music performed by local artists.   Historic Theatre Happy Hour Tours are free to attend. Drink specials include $2.00 drafts and $4.00 wine. Tours will begin at 5:30pm and run on a 30-minute schedule.   Tours are capped to 200 attendees.     Sponsored By:       Parking:   Parking is available on-site and throughout downtown Lynchburg. The parking map above shows all of the free public and paid parking available.   Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest Presents: Jefferson & Adams, On Stage And In Conversation     Written by Howard Ginsberg and based on his original play, this is the story of the turbulent 52-year friendship of Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Adams’ wife, Abigail.  Based on the collection of letters between these prolific founding fathers – and one equally astute wife – the play fuses compelling political thoughts with passionate personal beliefs.  By focusing on the unique relationship between the characters and the spirit of the time, the play reveals each of the three as thoughtful, persevering, dedicated, innovative, relevant – and human.   Tickets include a pre-performance reception beginning at 6:30 PM.   Students ages 17 and under and college students with active college IDs may purchase student tickets.   Please note: This performance is not an Academy Center of the Arts’ production.     Tickets:   Students: $20.00 Adults: $44.00   To view our seating map for the Historic Academy of Music Theatre, click here.   For more information or to purchase tickets to this performance, contact our Box Office at (434) 846-8499.     Parking:   Parking is available on-site and throughout downtown Lynchburg. Palates and Palettes A Fundraiser to benefit the Academy Center of the Arts     The Palates and Palettes fundraiser returns to the Academy Center of the Arts this April, but with a twist!   Ticket holders will be able to engage in experiential art and culture at four Academy campus locations. You can hone your improv skills on the Historic Stage, watch a painting come to life in the Harrington Galleries, take part in a photo reveal in our new lobby, and enjoy live music in our outdoor courtyard. Each location and activity will be paired with food and beverage tastings to create a cohesive cultural experience.   Tickets include access to the event, food and beverage tastings, and each experience. Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra Presents: Dvorak’s New World Symphony

  Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra Presents: Dvorak's New World Symphony     The first half of the concert features the LSO performing two familiar movie themes composed by John Williams. Visit new worlds through Flight to Neverland (from Hook) and Adventures on Earth (from E.T.)   The Jefferson Choral Society will also perform three numbers starting with Homeward Bound, followed by the familiar folk tune Shenandoah. The third selection includes You’ll Never Walk Alone and Climb Every Mountain, which is a medley of famous pieces from two different musicals. Baritone Philip Bouknight will be the featured soloist.   The second half of the concert will be Antonin Dvořák’s best known work, New World Symphony, which was premiered in 1893 in Carnegie Hall.
