Academy Children’s Theatre is a two-week long children’s theatre camp that begins with an open group audition and culminates in two public performances. Students ages 6 – 9 are cast in a popular family musical that you will love! Everyone who participates in the camp will have a role but there will be auditions will be held for specific parts. Teen Wheel Throwing III

Throwing on a pottery wheel is both challenging and fun! We will make cups, bowls and vases. Students will be able to glaze their own pieces of pottery they make either on or off the wheel. REFUND POLICY 1. Classes without sufficient enrollment by the registration deadline will be canceled. Fees are 100% refundable for classes canceled by the Academy. 2. 85% of class fees will be refunded if you cancel a week or more before the start of class. If the withdrawal notice is received within one week (7 days) of the class’s first meeting, then there are no refunds issued. PHOTO POLICY The Academy Center of the Arts may use photos of students taken during class or events for any marketing promotions including print, web, social media, and video productions. If you or your child wish to not be included please inform the instructor with written notice at the first meeting. Crowd scenes or group photos are exempt.

Everyone loves visiting the Zoo, but how about being an animal in the zoo? Through music and art, the children will learn about all kinds of animals that live in the zoo. We will explore where they come from, what they eat, and how they play. Students will paint elephants, make lion masks, create paper mosaic bears, and use printmaking to create lizards. *Students must be potty trained to participate in this camp.

However, the entire script has been condensed to better suit young attention spans, and the plot has been slightly altered so as to highlight some important lessons that exist in this timeless tale. Storybook Theme – Hand Building Clay Camp

Have you ever wanted to be an astronaut? Now is your chance to visualize outer space right here in Lynchburg. Working on iPads with animation, painting and video apps, you will be guided thru the solar system and supported in your storytelling about your favorite parts of the Universe. Going to the moon? Maybe you’d like to go to another galaxy and find alien life forms. We will work on iPads so bring your own or a limited number of iPads are available to rent during the workshop for $10. Compass Creative Dramatics: Peter Pan

Students will go from auditions to performance in just five days with Compass Creative Dramatics, a Chicago-based touring theatre who will be hosting a week-long theatre residency at the Academy Center of the Arts. Students in grades 1 – 12 will stretch their creativity and bravery muscles through daily rehearsals for Peter Pan. Students also perform alongside two professional actors during the week and will participate in acting classes from those directors in the afternoon! No acting experience necessary – just come ready to be silly and have fun! Camp Shows: Saturday, August 11 at 10:30am and 1:30pm ABOUT THE SHOW: When the curious Darling children befriend a mysterious boy from a distant planet called Neverland, they never dream that they’ll soon be fighting alongside him, battling injustices and turning the delicate balance of this faraway world on its head.     Payment plans are available. Yes, you can make a comic book or graphic novel on an iPad and share it. Are you making comic books now and want a digital version? Or do you have a new idea you want to try out? The app we will use makes it easy to draw, add text and share your creation. Bring your ideas, your love of drawing and get started. Feel free to bring a favorite comic book or graphic novel with you for inspiration. A limited number of iPads are available to rent during the workshop for $10.
