Instructor: Joanna McGlothlin Building off a layer of collage, we’ll explore a variety of acrylic media and techniques as we learn to follow a painting where it leads us. Multiple layers will be utilized to build interest and texture while allowing for maximum experimentation with fine art media as well as DIY media you can make at home. All supplies will be provided but feel free to bring your own images or papers for the collage element. Instructor Bio: Joanna McGlothlin is a mixed media artist working in acrylic and collage with found objects. She creates abstractions with the goal of evoking a feeling in the viewer. She discovered her love of all things creative at an early age. Whether it was hand-sewing clothing for her stuffed animals, constructing paper creations with glue and scissors or simply eating the occasional crayon she was always up to something. Joanna strives to keep that child-like sense of play alive in her creative practice today. She believes anyone can tap into their own creativity with play and practice. Instructor: Arnulfo Jacinto In this class, students will have the opportunity to express themselves through art while building upon the basic principles and foundations of drawing, including different grades of paper and pencils, light and shadow, and perspective. Because each student is unique, projects may be altered and one-on-one instruction will be given to suit each student’s skills, talents, knowledge, and interest level. Supplies are included. Artist’s Bio: Arnulfo, aka “Arnold” or “Nuffy”, is a native of Santa Paula, California, which is located about an hour north of Los Angeles.  He has had multiple successes in both the athletic and art fields. He competed in the 1984 Olympics in Sprint Canoe Kayak and later went on to become a National coach at the Olympic Training Centers in Lake Placid, New York and San Diego, California.  After working as a firefighter for 7 years, he decided to return to school and graduated from the University of Southern California’s Roski School of Art and Designs with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts. Gelatin Plate Printing

Instructor: Joanna McGlothlin A modern take on an ancient process, gelli plate printing utilizes a reusable gelatin style printing plate to make single prints using acrylic paint. A variety of tools will be utilized to create textures and patterns. We will create a multi layer print together and then be set free to play and experiment on our own. The resulting prints can be used for collage projects, such as art journals or card making or simply framed and used as art itself.
