Family Saturday Clay Day: Leaf Ceramics

Leaf Plates – Paint real leaves and roll them into your clay cut out and assemble a beautiful bowl with all the colors of fall.  Instructor is Anna Ellis. Parents are encouraged to attend the class with their child or children, or you can drop them off!     REFUND POLICY 1. Classes without sufficient enrollment by the registration deadline will be canceled. Fees are 100% refundable for classes canceled by the Academy. 2. 85% of class fees will be refunded if you cancel a week or more before the start of class.  If the withdrawal notice is received within one week (7 days) of the class’s first meeting, then there are no refunds issued. PHOTO POLICY The Academy Center of the Arts may use photos of students taken during class or events for any marketing promotions including print, web, social media, and video productions.  If you or your child wish to not be included please inform the instructor with written notice at the first meeting. Crowd scenes or group photos are exempt.

Animated Storytelling for iPads

Elf Jr. will be the first camp performing in the historic theatre serving as a ‘soft opening’ event. Students will rehearse and perform this fun and festive musical!     Rehearsing (Warehouse Theatre): Mondays and Wednesdays, October 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, 31, November 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 20 (Tuesday) from 6:00pm – 9:00pm Tech week (Historic Theatre): November 26 – 28 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm Shows (Historic Theatre): November 29 and 30 at 7:00pm     ABOUT THE SHOW: Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Students will dictate their own syllabus by choosing sessions in acting, combat, auditioning, character exploration, stage movement, choreography, script work, and more. This course is ideal for beginning or intermediate students desiring a preparatory experience for future performing arts endeavors. The four days will culminate in a collaborative showcase on Saturday, October 13 at 7:00pm.

In this class, students will have the opportunity to express themselves through art while building upon the basic principles and foundations of painting. The class will include lecture and demonstration. While this class is perfect for beginners who are seeking to learn the fundamentals of painting, the lessons and projects will be geared toward individual skill and interest levels and is suitable for intermediate to advanced art students. Students will learn the basics of color theory, proper application of paint, and fundamentals of composition and design. Because each student is unique, projects may be altered and one-on-one instruction will be given to suit each student’s skills, talents, knowledge, and interest level.
