Instructor: Arnulfo Jacinto This class is designed for beginner to advanced students who are seeking to express themselves through art while learning and building upon the basic principles and foundations of drawing, including grades of paper and pencils, light and shadow, and perspective. Basic life drawing and understanding of the human anatomy will be introduced by using wood figure models, photographs, and other reference materials. Students will work on drawing the skeletal and muscular structures of the human body and will gain an understanding of proportion, scale, and foreshortening. Because each student is unique, projects may be altered and one-on-one instruction will be given to suit each student’s skills, talents, knowledge, and interest level. Students will be encouraged to produce at least one illustration that will be matted and suitable for framing. The Academy Center of the Arts is pleased to partner again with Brett Thomas of Mobile Raku in hosting a one day Raku workshop on Saturday, June 15 from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 pm at the Academy Center of the Arts. Class size is limited to 20 students, and each student may bring 4-5 pieces (raku clay only bisque cone 06), approximately 5” wide x 12” tall or smaller. Tiles are acceptable however NO BOWLS OR SLABS.   If time allows, additional pieces may be fired after everyone has had a turn.  Brett will provide his glazes and materials for firing. Please register early; pieces need to made and bisque fired before June 12. One day class tuition is $85 which includes a 25lb bag of raku clay.  Students currently not enrolled in Academy Center pottery classes will have access to the studio to make their pieces. Unused raku clay from this class can be saved for the next Raku workshop! Come join the firing party! REFUND POLICY 1. Join professional instructors from all over Lynchburg. Dance experience is required. Together with the students from the Juniors and Minis dance camps, Dance Arts: Seniors will end in a dance performance in the Historic Theatre on Saturday, June 22 at 2:00pm! Students will need to be there for a group rehearsal at 10:00am that morning.

Instructor: Bryan Paul Kopsitz This course is designed to learn the fundamentals of improvisational comedy. In particular long-form improv comedy, which has the performers create scenes lead by story and characters. Many comedians contribute their success to improv training (Tina Fey, Chris Farley, Mike Myers, Steve Carell). Are you an actor or comedian interested in learning improvisational comedy? Take this class! Are you someone who wants to feel more confident in social situations at work or in everyday life? Take this class! Are you someone who has nothing to do on Monday nights? Take this class! No previous improv or performance experience necessary. Let’s have some fun. Bio: Bryan Paul Kopsitz is an actor and improviser in the VA and NC areas.
