Her love for watercolor started and she continued classes with Coleman and then began classes with Dick Frisbee. Solly continued her art education in classes with Ralph Smith, Ernest Johnson, Frank Webb, Don Andrews, Serge Hollerbach and Tony Couch. In recent years, Solly became interested in oil painting and studied with local artists Bertha Crockett and Rosalie Day White. Join Artist Janet Rogers from Florida for a unique opportunity to learn in her advanced watercolor painting workshop! This workshop takes place April 29th and 30th, 9:30am – 4:30pm. Designed for participants of all levels, fresh flowers in the studio will be the inspiration for this workshop. Janet will demonstrate various “fun” exercises geared to interpret flowers in a loose and expressive manner. Discovering the unique “nature” of individual flowers and “finding” new colors will be highlighted. Demonstrations and individual help will weave throughout the workshop, with an emphasis on letting the medium of watercolor lead the students to new adventures in watercolor. (PLEIN AIR – in studio!) Some goals include “keeping the whites”, avoiding “mud”, intuitive color and composition. Besides working with students individually and class demos, Janet and attendees will enjoy “Show and Tell” – an opportunity to see class work together and enjoy! Join Artist Janet Rogers from Florida for a unique opportunity to learn in her advanced watercolor painting workshop! This workshop takes place May 1st and 2nd, 9:30am – 4:30pm. This dynamic workshop is designed to enable participants of all levels to quickly gain confidence in approaching the head and figure in a more spontaneous, intuitive and expressive way. Demonstrations, class instruction, individual assistance, “show and tell”, and a series of “fun” exercises, will weave into class painting time. Special emphasis will be on achieving a fresh look of translucent flesh tones in the portrait with unique color changes, which will add to the excitement of capturing the essence of the subject. Capturing the essence of children will be included. Many “features” will be covered! All levels will benefit and help is available to those who are new to the portrait and figure. No Fear!! Instructor: Arnulfo Jacinto This class is designed for beginner to advanced students who are seeking to express themselves through art while learning and building upon the basic principles and foundations of drawing, including grades of paper and pencils, light and shadow, and perspective. Basic life drawing and understanding of the human anatomy will be introduced by using wood figure models, photographs, and other reference materials. Students will work on drawing the skeletal and muscular structures of the human body and will gain an understanding of proportion, scale, and foreshortening. Instructor: Kenneth Weinfurtner Portrait Painting is challenging, exciting and rewarding. Painting portraits require exacting skills, learned in this class, that all painters will find useful for all subject matter. Using a limited palette, the class will focus on zones of color, proportions & perspective of the head, edges, brush techniques, specialized palettes, portrait painting steps, facial features, expression and capturing a likeness. Each class will begin with a learning objective and critique, and then proceed to working with a live model.
