The Greater Lynchburg community is filled with important non-profit organizations doing crucial work. The use of our facilities, either for programming or fundraising, could make a dramatic impact on the success of these organization’s financial and impact-oriented goals.
At the Academy, we believe that our venues, just like our services, should be available to as many in our community as is possible. This year, to ensure the accessibility of our organization and our facilities, the Academy has allocated the value of $30,000 for area non-profit organizations to utilize our facilities. This new allocation will continue annually through the Academy’s new Facilities Access Program.
Participation in the program is through an application process and each application is reviewed by the Academy’s “Outreach and Access Task Force.” This task force is comprised of Academy board members, staff, and outside community members. The application deadline is rolling; however, applicants are greatly encouraged to apply no less than 3 months before a possible rental. The earlier an application is received the better the chance that facilities and staff will be available.
This program is designed to ensure that organizations, groups, and individuals working on shoestring budgets and lacking adequate physical spaces have access to the Academy. As such, organizations with ample resources or physical facilities are not eligible to apply. In addition, the task force will prioritize applicants who have previously had little to no involvement with the Academy. We are committed to building relationships with new and underrepresented segments of our community. Applicants for a discounted rental must fall within at least one of the categories below:
- Arts and Culture: producing an experience which promotes or facilitates creativity
- Human Services: providing a resource which meets the needs of the community
- Education: sharing insight on a topic to broaden the knowledge of others
