Before the Show
While going to the Academy Center of the Arts is certainly a special occasion, there is no required dress code, unless otherwise stated, other than we do require shoes and shirts. You’ll probably be most comfortable in casual business attire, but you’ll often see people in jeans, khakis, and sometimes even shorts. Some guests enjoy dressing up and making a special night of it, and you can too, but most of all we want our guests to be comfortable.
We recommend planning your travel so that you arrive in downtown Lynchburg no later than 30 minutes before show time. You should then budget about 15 minutes maximum to park and walk to the theater. There is nothing worse than having to rush to the theater and then arrive just as the doors close for the start of the show. Our lobby doors open 60 minutes prior to show time. With the schedule we recommend above, you’ll arrive with plenty of time to find your seat, get settled, or enjoy a pre-show drink or a light snack.

On show days, the Box Office is open for “will call” and same-day performance sales until the end of first intermission or 30 minutes after a performance begins when there is no intermission.
You may either print your ticket or show your ticket on your mobile device when choosing print-at-home as an option.

During a performance
Videography and audio recording during the performances is prohibited.
Photography of the set on stage is allowed pre-show, post-show, and during intermission. But we do ask that you show our designers and visiting performers some love by crediting them (and by tagging us) in your social media posts.
Most shows usually last one to two hours, and many have an intermission. The show time will be listed on the event on our website, as well as on your tickets.
We’re really great at making sure everyone gets to their seat and doesn’t miss a second of the excitement. If you’re not in your seat at the start of a performance, you may be asked to wait to enter the theater. In some instances, delayed seating may not take place until intermission. Late seating times are established by each artist working with our house management staff. Please allow extra time when traveling to the venue to ensure you have plenty of time to get to your seat before the performance begins.
Read our House Rules for more info on late seating.
Above all, we hope you enjoy your experience at the Academy Center of the Arts, and please know that we are here to help. If you have a question or need assistance of any kind, please ask a member of our staff. We believe in great entertainment experiences, and we want to be our guests’ favorite place for live events and performances.
