
The Academy Center of the Arts’ Board of Trustees and Staff invite you to the 2021 Academy Gala, featuring a full weekend of fundraising events, held September 17-19, 2021, in celebration of your local arts center. Join us for this premier event as we gather, dine, and celebrate the local arts in our community.
This fundraiser event will benefit the Academy Center of the Arts following 1.5 years of partial closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Academy Center of the Arts weathered this extraordinary moment through the support of our incredible community, including our steadfast corporate partners, dedicated donors and patrons, and our tireless Board of Trustees and staff. Thanks to this support and our evolution, we’re finally able to welcome you back to our venues for the 2021 Gala.

Stand-up comedian, writer, and actor, Fortune Feimster will host and perform at the opening night of our 2021 Gala Weekend. Academy Center of the Arts’ patrons, supporters, and donors are invited to join us on Friday, September 17, 2021, in the Historic Academy Theatre at 7:30PM as we gather, fundraise, and celebrate local arts in your community.
With a national 2021 tour just released, a highly popular Netflix special, “Sweet and Salty”, climbing the ranks, multiple guest appearances on shows like 2 Broke Girls, Workaholics, Glee, and Dear White People, and recurring roles on Showtime’s The L Word: Generation Q and CBS’s Life In Pieces, Fortune Feimster is one of the busiest female comedians today. Find her on Sirius XM’s channel 93 for Netflix with Tom Papa every morning, or starring in Jennifer Garner’s latest flick, Yes Day. You can also check out Fortune Feimster’s weekly podcast, Sincerely Fortune.

ANNUAL GALA DINNER
SATURDAY, 9/18 | HISTORIC THEATRE | 5PM | TICKETS REQUIRED
As a part of our annual Gala dinner fundraising event, the Academy Center of the Arts will temporarily close the section of Main Street in front of the Historic Academy Theatre to host an exclusive dinner on the street. Enjoy food from Avenue Foods Catering, complimentary drinks, and entertainment by local performers. This event will celebrate the Academy, local arts, and support our mission of serving the community through arts & culture.
Following dinner, guests will be invited into the Historic Academy Theatre to participate in our auction and scholarship appeal, while enjoying performances by local artists and arts organizations.

Please note that this is a combined indoor and outdoor event. Dress is semi-formal and comfortable. We are also sensitive to the impacts COVID-19 has on our community. Following CDC guidelines, guests are encouraged to wear masks indoors and will be allowed to sit anywhere they desire in the theatre, socially distancing themselves from other guests (the Gala is a 300 person capacity event in an 800+ seat venue).

We’re closing out the Academy 2021 Gala weekend with the Academy in Motion Art Bus! Join us in the Pacific Life Parking Lot for a FREE family-friendly event on Sunday, 9/19/21, from 2PM – 5PM as we create sundae-themed crafts with the Art Bus staff and enjoy sweet treats from Maylynn’s Creamery on-site.
