"Ordinary Time: A Visual Record of the "inbetween" - Photography by Laura Beth Davidson
March 5-27
First Friday, March 5, 5-8 PM
Bio: Laura Beth Davidson is a documentary photographer and mother of four who loves capturing life’s little moments for her family and for others. She looks for beautiful light, funny gestures, and subtle details that tell a big story. She is a fan of sweet tea, long naps, and a good pair of jeans. She absolutely cannot dance. Artist/show statement: As a photographer, I seek to document real life as the gritty, hilarious, exhausting, wonderful reality that it is. I believe that life is often most charming when it is not rehearsed or directed or polished. There is joy to be found in chaos and in quiet; there is beauty in brokenness and in connection; there is humor in the million tiny gestures and expressions that make up the mundane. In the liturgical church calendar, Ordinary Time is the season between major celebrations like Easter and Christmas; it is a time of reflecting and growing in quiet ways. I feel strongly that the everyday moments of a family are the ones we will want most to remember and cherish, and I have made a practice of documenting the ordinary details of my daughters' lives. This exhibition is a collection of my favorite photographs of my four daughters in the frame together. Nothing is posed or directed, and there is plenty of imperfection and discord. These images represent our Ordinary Time.
Monday-Friday, 12:00pm-5:00pm and Saturdays by appointment. Request an appointment here. All spaces are fully handicap accessible.
