Have you been looking for a way to get more involved at The Academy? Want to earn some extra cash with the world’s coolest part-time job? Great news: The Academy Center of the Arts is now hiring for several part time positions!
If you’ve ever wanted to pop piles of popcorn, perfect your pilsner (and other drink) pouring powers, and process plenty of payments (card and cash), the Front of House team would be happy to have you!
If you’ve been to the Academy before, you’ve likely interacted with a member of the Front of House staff. In this position, you’ll serve as the smiling face of the Academy, working at the concession stand (preparing orders and processing payments), as well as helping out elsewhere as needed during events.

Are you a great leader? Organized? Great at multi-tasking and following protocol? Take charge of the audience experience as the Front of House Manager!
In this position, you’ll lead event staff and volunteers to provide an unforgettable audience experience. Pre-event, you’ll make sure the lobby and seating area is ready-to-go, as well as educate volunteers about their duties. Throughout the event, you’ll ensure everything is running smoothly, assisting staff, volunteers, and patrons as needed, and taking the lead in case of any emergencies. At the end of the event, you’ll file a report including all relevant information about how things went.

Are you good with computers and cash? Does a well-organized list, spreadsheet, or workspace make you happy? Have weekends, evenings, and/or afternoons free? Consider joining the Box Office team!
In this position, you’ll work the Bank of the James Ticketing Office‘s afternoon office hours selling tickets to patrons in person and via phone, as well as answering questions in person, via phone, and via email. On event days, you’ll run the on-site ticketing services: printing pre-ordered tickets, selling walk-up tickets, and assisting patrons who can’t find their tickets or have questions.

Prefer to work behind the scenes? Willing to learn and do a little bit of everything when it comes to facilities maintenance? Join the Facilities/Custodial Team!
In this position, you’ll clean and care for the Academy’s common areas; maintain all cleaning, lawn care, and other equipment; and inform the Facilities Manager of any additional maintenance or supply needs. You’ll also perform the set up and clean up for on campus events, and learn the basics of the Academy’s HVAC, electrical, and security systems.
