(Lynchburg, VA) In the interest of the health and welfare of patrons, staff, volunteers, and performers, the Academy Center of the Arts, 524 Main Street, has increased health & safety policies for upcoming performances at our venues.
Select artists in the September and October months are now scheduled to perform twice per night to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 among patrons, allowing socially-distanced seating, limited venue capacities, and increased sanitation measures in the venue.
This decision is in line with public health guidelines regarding COVID-19, recommendations by state and local health authorities, and made with our community’s health and safety in mind.
“The Academy has always put our patrons, supporters, and community first,” said Brittany Griffith, Director of Programming. “That’s why, when COVID-19 began to spread throughout our region, that we closed our doors ahead of official governing regulations, and why we continue to put tremendous thought into how and when we will reopen our doors in the future.”
“With the announcement of Phase III plans from Governor Northam, we have been supplied a runway, with limits, to reopen our space,” said Griffith. “These double show performances will allow us to adhere to those guidelines while also offering as many tickets as possible to the community and supplying our patrons the best experience while on-site.”
Performances on double show nights will feature 65-minute sets without an intermission. All patrons entering the venues must also adhere to the Academy’s newly released Venue Reopening Guidelines while on-site. It is also noted that should local or state regulations change at any point, that these performances may be rescheduled or canceled to adhere to said regulations.
