The Upper Lobby in the Historic Academy Theatre and the Harrington Galleries are wide-open spaces that can be uniquely tailored for meetings, award banquets, dinners, birthday parties, and more.
For larger events, the Warehouse Theatre can accommodate up to 500 standing room or 300 seated for whatever your event needs. Want to step it up? Wow your family and friends with a private dinner or movie screening event right on the Historic Academy Theatre Stage.

New Rental Opportunities
In addition to the usual corporate rental opportunities, the Academy Center of the Arts is offering the following new opportunities for corporate organizations to gather and entertain throughout COVID-19.
Courtyard Paint and Sip Party
Take advantage of the beautiful fall weather in Central Virginia! These two-hour-long private paint parties include exclusive use of the courtyard, individual table for painting, a charcuterie box from Purple Door Catering, a bottle of wine, and the beautiful backdrop of the Academy and downtown!
Cost: $45 per person
Time: 2 Hours
This is a unique and fun experience that only the Academy can offer – added bonus, you go home with a beautiful piece of art!
Invite your friends and family, colleagues and employees for a private Movie night in the Historic Academy Theatre! The screenings are private and intended for your invitees only! Prices are available with and without concessions and add-ons from Purple Door Catering to class it up.
Cost: $10 per person for 100 people minimum without concession, $5 per person for 100 people minimum with concession or charcuterie add-on
Add on beverage service by the Academy Staff and/or charcuterie boxes through our catering partner Purple Door Catering.
Private On-Stage Dinners
Host a romantic and unforgettable dinner on the Historic Theatre Stage. This rental includes set-up, theatre lighting, streamed music, and break down during the two-hour dinner event.
Time: 3 Hours for the full rental, 2 Hours for dinner
Add on dinner coordination, decorations and/or flowers, and/or live music.
