  Haunted Historic Theatre Tours Presented by Member One Credit Union and Watts Creative Studios     In 1911, the Historic Academy of Music Theatre was partially destroyed by a mysterious fire in the Manager’s apartment. Since then, the building just hasn’t felt the same. Join our staff and in-house paranormal team as we investigate the unexplainable happenings, murmurs, and ghosts that lurk in the wings during the month of October.   Every Wednesday in October, you can experience the chilling haunting of the Historic Theatre on our exclusive Haunted Theatre Tour! Be prepared for goosebumps, and remember: as long as you stay with the group, you’ll be just fine.   Tours are limited to 50 and run twice per night, at 7:00 PM and 8:30 PM. Tenor Michael Fabiano is the besotted Chevalier des Grieux, whose desperate love for Manon proves their undoing. The great Plácido Domingo makes his role debut as Sharpless, alternating with Paulo Szot and Markus Brück. Carpenter and Colvin—longtime friends for over 30 years—will appear on stage together as an intimate acoustic duo, swapping songs and sharing stories. These special shows will feature the acclaimed songwriters performing material from their vast catalogues as well as some of their favorite songs.   Carpenter and Colvin previously toured together in 2013 to the delight of both fans and critics.   Met Opera Broadcast in HD: Akhnaten     The Academy Center of the Arts has just announced the Metropolitan Opera HD Broadcast 19-20 season, featuring Glass' Akhnaten on Sunday, 11/24 at 12:55pm in the Historic Academy of Music Theatre.   Director Phelim McDermott tackles another one of Philip Glass’s masterpieces, following the now-legendary Met staging of Satyagraha. Star countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo is the title pharaoh, the revolutionary ruler who transformed ancient Egypt, with the striking mezzo-soprano J’Nai Bridges in her Met debut as his wife, Nefertiti.   Opera on the James Presents: Amahl and the Night Visitors     In time for the Christmas season, Opera On the James and Liberty University School of Music bring Gian Carlo Menotti’s magical Christmas tale, Amahl and the Night Visitors.   Originally created for television broadcast, Ahmal was the first opera conceived for the medium of TV. At its heart, it is a retelling of the story of the Three Kings, who visited the infant Christ while he lay in a manger in Bethlehem. The hero of the opera, Amahl, is a disabled boy who, through his meeting with the Three Kings, discovers the meaning of generosity and grace.
