Academy in Motion

Academy in Motion is a mobile arts program that seeks to impact members of the Greater Lynchburg community by providing arts access to groups and individuals with barriers that would otherwise prevent exposure to the arts on our physical campus.

In partnership with other local nonprofit organizations and social service partners, art instruction can now be executed at community centers, senior living facilities, public spaces, detention centers, and community convenings through Academy in Motion.

The Academy in Motion program brings the following arts activities to off-site locations for arts outreach
  • Painting
  • Drawing
  • Handbuilding Clay
  • Crafts
  • and More

Installation Projects

We are happy to work with you to create a unique art installation for your school. We would work with your school to select the location, medium, number of students, and time frame to install the project. These projects will take 1 week of student engagement to complete. Whether it is for a Library or Media Center, a prominent hallway, lunch room or multipurpose space, An installation is a great way to build community, promote creativity and generate excitement and school pride about their time spent in school.

Option 1 – Painted mural- designed in conjunction with
Option 2 – 3D project like a sculpture
Option 3 – Mobile – hanging/suspended in the air group project
Option 4 – a mounted collection a Photo exhibit hung like a grid

The budget for a project like this would depend on the number of students engaged and the scope of the project, but we would like to keep the project in a window of $250-$500. If you are interested in scheduling an Installation project hosted by the Academy In Motion program, please contact our Academy in Motion Manager, Stephen Kissel, at [email protected]
