Spring is here and we’ve got tons of fun art experiences for all ages here at The Academy Center of the Arts. All are invited to join our Artrageous weekend May 2 to 4, which includes First Friday, a fun class, and the chance to experience two family-friendly events for one low price with a sweet bundle deal.
Artsy Fartsy Bundle Savings
Start and end the weekend with sweet savings with the Artsy Fartsy bundle! When purchasing a ticket to either Artrageous on May 2 or the Blank Canvas Block Party on May 4, you can get tickets to the other for FREE. Plus, kids 12 and under are free for both events with supervising adult.
To participate, simply grab tickets for either of the events below, then contact the Box Office at [email protected] or (434) 846-8499 to claim your FREE tickets for the other event! Tickets for both events are $30 for Academy Members or $40 for non-members; kids 12 and under are free!

Blank Canvas Block Party
End your Artrageous weekend on the evening of May 4 as we close down Main Street for the unforgettable Blank Canvas Block Party!
Tickets include an evening filled with music, dancing, a dedicated kids’ area, 2 drink tickets, entertainment and more.
Plus, grab your very own custom Academy Theatre Lego set and participate in our Art Auction showcasing the extraordinary talents of Central Virginia’s 3D artists and creators!
Free First Friday!
This year, The Academy Center of the Arts has the honor of hosting the Virginia Watercolor Society’s 45th Annual Juried Exhibition. The exhibit will be in the galleries for the months of May and June, and opens to the public during First Friday, a free event on Friday, May 3, 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Stop by any time to enjoy the best watercolor pieces created by Virginia artists!
Lego Architecture Workshop with Chris Elliott
The morning of the Blank Canvas Block Party, join us in the Art Studio for the Lego Architecture Workshop!
Lego Architecture creator Chris Elliott will share his process for creating the design for the Academy Center of the Arts, and also show you how you can create your own Lego designs from your favorite architecture.
This workshop includes a custom designed Academy Center of the Arts Lego set! Additional sets will be for sale at the class and at the evening’s Blank Canvas Block Party.
