The Up Front Gallery features the Artistica Members Showcase, highlighting the creativity, diversity, and talent of our local artist community. This exhibition showcases a variety of mediums, styles, and perspectives, reflecting the vibrancy and collaborative spirit of our membership. Each piece invites viewers to explore the unique voice and vision of the artists behind them.
In the Back Gallery: Lyall Harris: Indwelling
Lyall Harris’ Indwelling presents landscapes as both a visual language and an exploration of interior states. These works began as reflections on presence, absence, grief, and loss, evolving into meditations on being. Over time, vibrant landscapes emerged, questioning the value of creating “beautiful” images. Yet, in the face of the un-beautiful, Harris reminds us that celebrating beauty is essential—it is part of the balance of life. Each painting is an expression of life itself, capturing both the external world and the interior landscape of the artist.

Join Lyall Harris for an in-depth discussion of Indwelling, exploring the inspiration, process, and themes behind her evocative landscapes.
Sculptures on View:
Experience the striking outdoor sculptures of Chelsea Tinklenberg, Art Professor at the University of Lynchburg. Installed outside the Patricia Harrington Gallery, these works were made possible through the City of Lynchburg’s James River Art and Culture District Grant, with support from the Academy Center of the Arts, Accutech Fabrication, Vector Space, and the University of Lynchburg. Tinklenberg’s sculptures engage viewers with form, space, and light, offering a dynamic and immersive experience as part of December First Friday.
