Join us on October 2nd at 5:00 PM at the Academy Center of the Arts as we celebrate the opening of the Annual National Juried Ceramic Exhibition, our first national juried exhibition dedicated to ceramics. Featuring 51 selected works by 32 artists from across the country, this exhibition highlights the creativity, craftsmanship, and limitless possibilities of clay. From sculptural forms and functional vessels to experimental works that challenge traditional techniques, the exhibition offers a diverse look at contemporary ceramic art.
About the Exhibition
This year’s exhibition brings together a diverse group of ceramic artists from across the nation, showcasing a wide range of approaches to form, texture, scale, and material. Each selected work reflects a distinct artistic voice, inviting viewers to explore the versatility of ceramics and discover new ways artists push the boundaries of the medium.
The exhibition was juried by Margaret Pinto, a visual artist who works primarily in ceramics. Her practice investigates the limits of the medium through monumental scale and experimental material processes. Pinto has been an artist-in-residence at Zentrum für Keramik in Berlin and participated in the 2023 MAPSpace Studio Residency in Port Chester, New York, which culminated in a solo exhibition. She has exhibited throughout New York State and Brooklyn, with a forthcoming solo exhibition at Fjord Gallery in Philadelphia. Pinto is currently an MFA candidate in the Craft/Material Studies Program at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Juror Talk & Awards
The Juror Talk and Awards Presentation begins at 6:00 PM. Margaret Pinto will share insight into her selections and recognize this year’s award-winning artists, offering a closer look at the ideas, techniques, and qualities that stood out throughout the jurying process.
