Kid’s Painting : Aesop’s Fables

In this class, students will have the opportunity to express themselves through art while building upon the basic principles and foundations of painting and looking at the stories of Aesops Fables for inspiration. While this class is perfect for beginners who are seeking to learn the fundamentals of painting, the lessons and projects will be geared toward individual skill and interest levels. Students will learn the basics of color theory, proper application of paint, and fundamentals of composition and design. Because each student is unique, projects may be altered and one-on-one instruction will be given to suit each student’s skills, talents, knowledge, and interest level.

Instructor: Rachel Shaw

Rachel Shaw has taught middle school art for 18 years. She taught at Dunbar Middle for 16 years and currently has been teaching at Brookville Middle. Her passion is being able to teach art to children of all ages. When Rachel isn’t teaching, she is most likely found outside in the woods and mountains with her dogs. Which is why you may find strong environmental concepts in her art lessons, due to her love of the outdoors, hiking, gardening, and animals. Rachel trains and shows her dogs in a variety of local dog sports. She also is a bee keeper and busy mom to her 9 year old son.
