Do you LOVE creating and reading comics?  Join us for a monthly meet up to share ideas, create comics and swap creations together!  This once a month group, is pay per class — Each meetup will be part workshop, part show and tell.  Receive great feedback from Stephen Kissel, a local comic artist in the industry and take part in chats/Q&As with other cartoonists/illustrators. Students will also receive a curated grab bag of unique tools for creating each month that they sign up.

Potential Supplies to Bring

  • Personal created comics to share
  • Comics by others that you want to share
  • Paper (copy paper is a solid cheap option)
  • Drawing Pencils (Blue erasable pencils are great).
  • Rulers
  • Brush Pens
  • Papermate Flair Pens (or any other drawing pens)
  • Colored Pencils
  • Any other supplies you like to use!

Stephen Kissel

Stephen Kissel is an illustrator and cartoonist living in Lynchburg, VA.

He makes illustrations, comics, and character work for a variety of clients and has been published previously by Pink Clover Press, Aww Magazine, Milk & Honey and Grilled Cheese Magazine. He is also the Academy in Motion Manager here at the Academy Center of the Arts. When not making things, he might be found searching for the perfect bagel, buying too many books, or spending time with his wife and pets.
