This 6-week class series is a continuation of the Sept- Oct series and is designed for adults who want to explore abstract painting using acrylics and mixed media. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this class offers a clear, step-by-step approach to mastering the techniques of abstract painting. Each week, you’ll focus on different aspects of the process, from understanding color theory and composition to working with texture and different media. By the end of the course, you’ll have completed a series of abstract paintings and developed the confidence to continue creating on your own.
Throughout the course, you’ll learn how to express yourself through abstraction, creating dynamic compositions using shapes, color, and texture. You’ll explore a variety of techniques inspired by influential movements such as Abstract Expressionism, Surrealism, and Cubism, with a focus on finding your own unique artistic voice.

Instructor Bio :
Toby Penney is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in painting and printmaking. With a B.F.A. in Sculpture from Middle Tennessee State University and training at Internationally respected Harvey K. Littleton Studios, she brings a wealth of technical skill and creative insight to her work. Penney has exhibited internationally in locations like France, England, Australia, and the U.S., and has been featured on the covers of Professional Artist Magazine and Hellbent Magazine. She also serves as an art instructor and mentor, fostering creativity in her community and beyond through her Roaming Studio program.
