The Academy Center of the Arts is pleased to partner again with Brett Thomas in hosting a two day Trencher workshop on Friday, July 26 from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm and Saturday, July 27 from 9:30 am – 3:00 pm at the May Carter Pottery Studio.
Brett will prep thick slabs for each student. In addition, Brett will bring a bag of clay for everyone attending so they can make their own slab. So, that would be two trenchers total for each student. If students want to make more they can buy clay from the studio and wedge sand into that clay. Sand makes it tear more properly.
Students will tear, shape and carve the slab that is provided for them. Brett will teach students how to prep, make their own slab out of the bag of clay that he provides.
The cost for the clay I provide will be 35.00 dollars per student, payable to Brett Thomas on the first day of the workshop.
During the workshop, Brett will demo different style trenchers. In addition, Brett will lecture on glaze and prep work involved so we don’t loose our torn texture edges.
