Up Front Gallery – Ted Batt- New Clay Works

Ted has lived in Lynchburg since August of 2004. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of New Hampshire, and his Masters of Arts degree in Art History and Museum Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. Ted is the former Director of the Visual Arts Program at the Academy Center of the Arts and is passionate about the arts. Prior to moving to Lynchburg, Ted operated a fine arts program at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals.

Ted has been working in clay for over thirty years and took his first class at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Studio School, where he studied under the tutelage of resident potter, Steven Glass. Ted enjoys teaching pottery at the Academy Center of the Arts and has taken several workshops that have been influential on his experience, including Kevin Crowe, Cynthia Bringle, and Steven Hill. Ted currently serves on the Board of Directors for the following organizations: the Cub Creek Foundation in Appomattox, Virginia; New Vistas School in Lynchburg; and Interfaith Outreach in Lynchburg.
