  Met Opera Broadcast in HD: The Magic Flute     The Academy Center of the Arts has just announced the Metropolitan Opera HD Broadcast 19-20 season, featuring The Magic Flute on Saturday, 12/21 at 12:55pm in the Historic Academy of Music Theatre.   A beloved holiday tradition continues as Mozart’s delightful fairy tale returns in the Met’s abridged, English-language version for families, perfect for younger audiences, with no intermission and a running time of less than two hours.   The Academy Presents: New Years Eve Bash with Audacity Brass Band     About the Show:   Join us at the Warehouse Theatre as we ring in NYE 2019 at the New Year's Eve Bash, featuring two 75-minute sets from Audacity Brass and a late-night set with DJ Phinestro, from 9:00pm - 1:00am. Celebrate the ROARING 20s with dancing, drinks, a champagne toast, and a countdown to the New Year!   This event is standing room only.   Doors open at 8:00pm with house music. Audacity Brass begins at 9:00pm. Palette Knife Painting: Winter Landscapes

Instructor: Alice Glass Students will work alongside artist Alice Glass as she takes them through her process of painting with a palette knife. The instructor will use a landscape as her inspiration for this piece and will show students how she utilizes different techniques to create her art. Much of this class will be demonstration based but students will come out with their own paintings by the end of class. Supplies are included. Artist’s Bio: Raised in a family brimming with commercial and fine artists, Alice Glass has always had a deep love for art, but didn’t start painting until early 2015. Her first experimental paintings gave way to a variety of subject matter including abstracts, florals, landscapes, Mediterranean villages, beaches, still life, and commissioned pieces of family houses and pets. Most of Alice’s work features bright and colorful acrylic paint on canvas, and most of her work is produced exclusively with her favorite selection of palette knives. Alice’s style is to quickly create her subject matter with broad painterly strokes leaving thick, expressive bands and pods of colors mixed on her palette board as well as the canvas itself.   Looney Tunes Marathon Free screening of 8 classic Looney Tune cartoons followed by the animated film Space Jam     Join the Academy and a special, anonymous Advocate for the Arts, as we host a Looney Tunes Marathon on Saturday, January 11, 2020, in the Historic Academy Theatre.   Grab a plush theatre seat and enjoy 8 classic Looney Tunes cartoons, followed by the 1996 film Space Jam.
