To place your name on a waiting list, call (434) 846-8499.     The United States Air Force Heritage of America Band is proud to present Heritage Brass, a pioneering symphonic brass ensemble. Bringing the military tradition of brass and percussion to the concert stage, Heritage Brass presents programs that are both exhilarating and intimate.   Representing Air Force professionals serving across the globe, Heritage Brass showcases the service’s excellence and precision in every performance throughout the eastern seaboard, from South Carolina to Maine. Comprised of ten brass players and percussion, the ensemble maintains a rigorous performance schedule presenting a diverse repertoire featuring orchestral transcriptions, patriotic favorites, jazz standards, new compositions and distinctive arrangements.   D-Day Memorial Field Chapel Service OFF-SITE PARTNER EVENT   NOTE: This event is held at the National D-Day Memorial     Conclude the 75th anniversary observance with an authentic WWII field chapel ecumenical service. A unique and moving experience with a message similar to what the troops would have heard on the eve of the Invasion.  The service begins at 11am.  Free admission from 11am to noon.

Acquire glass cutting skills and learn the basics of firing and slumping while creating projects in glass. Possible projects include sun catchers, bowls, vases and many others. PHOTO POLICY The Academy Center of the Arts may use photos of students taken during class or events for any marketing promotions including print, web, social media, and video productions.  If you or your child wish to not be included please inform the instructor with written notice at the first meeting. Instructor: Arnulfo Jacinto This class is designed for beginner to advanced students who are seeking to express themselves through art while learning and building upon the basic principles and foundations of drawing, including grades of paper and pencils, light and shadow, and perspective. Basic life drawing and understanding of the human anatomy will be introduced by using wood figure models, photographs, and other reference materials. Students will work on drawing the skeletal and muscular structures of the human body and will gain an understanding of proportion, scale, and foreshortening. Because each student is unique, projects may be altered and one-on-one instruction will be given to suit each student’s skills, talents, knowledge, and interest level. Students will be encouraged to produce at least one illustration that will be matted and suitable for framing. The Academy Center of the Arts is pleased to partner again with Brett Thomas of Mobile Raku in hosting a one day Raku workshop on Saturday, June 15 from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 pm at the Academy Center of the Arts. Class size is limited to 20 students, and each student may bring 4-5 pieces (raku clay only bisque cone 06), approximately 5” wide x 12” tall or smaller. Tiles are acceptable however NO BOWLS OR SLABS.   If time allows, additional pieces may be fired after everyone has had a turn.  Brett will provide his glazes and materials for firing. Please register early; pieces need to made and bisque fired before June 12. One day class tuition is $85 which includes a 25lb bag of raku clay.  Students currently not enrolled in Academy Center pottery classes will have access to the studio to make their pieces. Unused raku clay from this class can be saved for the next Raku workshop! Come join the firing party! REFUND POLICY 1.
