Homecoming: Virgil Moore, Bernstein, and the LSO

What you will experience
  • A celebration of violinist Virgil Moore, a Lynchburg native and virtuoso violinist, as he brings to life a lively and passionate suite of melodies from Bernstein’s “West Side Story”
  • The strings of the Lynchburg Symphony performing soulful and stirring masterworks by 20th century composers.
  • A performance of Strauss’ Metamorphosen, a work for 23 solo string players, each weaving their own unique part into a soaring reflection on transformation and loss, inspired by the composer’s experiences during the closing days of World War II. 
  • A joyful evocation of the Polish countryside by film composer Wojciech Kilar.

  • Leonard Bernstein (arr. Bateman) – West Side Story Suite (20 minutes) -Featuring Virgil Moore

Videography and audio recording during the performances are prohibited. Photography of the set on stage is allowed pre-show, post-show, and during intermission. But we do ask that you show our designers and visiting performers some love by crediting them (and by tagging us) in your social media posts.

Unless otherwise noted, our lobby doors open 60 minutes prior to show time and house doors open 30 minutes prior to show time for seating.
