Join us for a special Artist Talk with Purnell Pettyjohn and Sally Goodrich on Saturday, August 15 from 1:00–2:00 PM at the Patricia Harrington Gallery at 600 Main Street.

Through two unique exhibitions, these artists explore the emotional connections we create with the world around us. In This and That, Purnell Pettyjohn shares a vibrant collection of watercolor paintings inspired by everyday observations—from landscapes and still lifes to interiors, animals, and portraits. With a lifelong passion for teaching and artistic exploration, Pettyjohn uses expressive color, light, and shadow to reveal the beauty within familiar moments.

In The Light You Return To, Sally Goodrich presents a contemporary vision of the Blue Ridge landscape through impressionistic brushwork, a luminous palette, and delicate applications of gold leaf. Inspired by time spent in nature, Goodrich’s paintings reflect the connection between place, memory, and emotion, inviting viewers to pause and reconnect with the landscapes that bring comfort and inspiration.
